Folding Boxes for over 100 Years
Folding box production at Falkenhorster Faltschachtel, then and now
2015: Separation of the two branches
As of April 1, 2015 the two branches, folding box production and customisation become separate companies - Falkenhorster Faltschachtel GmbH und Falkenhorster Verpackungen GmbH - each concentrating on their individual business.
As Falkenhorster Verpackungen GmbH is also expanding along with its customer demands, an additional pallet rack store is built in 2010. This new store means that the rising demands of customers in the areas of classic folding box production and customised products can be met with flexibility.
2007: Yet another skill: the customisation of packaging
To be in a position to offer even better service to its national and international customers, the customisation of sales packaging for various branches of industry is added to the portfolio of services on offer by Falkenhorster Verpackungen. From then on it is in particular possible to have perfume boxes, cosmetics packaging or spirits packaging customised to customer order.
2006: New market segments won and the introduction of quality management
With the takeover of Ehrenfriedersdorfer Verpackungsgesellschaft mbH, Falkenhorster Verpackungen GmbH is now able to gain new market segments.
In order to satisfy the high expectations of its customers in terms of quality, the quality management system according to DIN EN ISO 9001 ff is introduced and certified in 2006.
2002: Falkenhorster Verpackungen GmbH relocates
To be able to meet the ever growing number of customer requests and projects in the folding box manufacturing field in an improved manner and with greater flexibility, the packaging service provider relocates to the newly built company building in the Hilmersdorf business park.
2000: Falkenhorster Verpackungen becomes part of the Hohendahl Group
With the purchase of Falkenhorster Verpackungen GmbH by Friedrich Karl Hohendahl, the packaging supplier becomes part of the Hohendahl group of companies.
1991: Reprivatisation of box manufacturers
After German reunification, Falkenhorster Verpackungen GmbH was re-privatised by the Treuhand agency.
1949 – 1989: The manufacture of folding boxes in the hands of the State
In the days of the German Democratic Republic, the factory was known as the “Wolkenstein Plant” and formed part of the Ehrenfriedersdorf VEB state-operated packaging works. It was during this time that the main focus of production shifted to the manufacture of folding boxes made of cardboard.
1876: Founding of the Falkenhorster Card and Coloured Paper Factory
On 18th April 1876, Falkenhorster Faltschachtel GmbH, as it is known today, was founded as the “Falkenhorster Karton- und Buntpapierfabrik” (the Falkenhorster Card and Coloured Paper Factory). The main service focus of today’s packaging service provider back then was the production of paper and card and the manufacture of coated rigid cardboard packaging.
